Tech4Islands Awards 2019

Ended: Jun 20, 2019 Global

Stakes and objectives

Organised by Digital Festival Tahiti 2019 in partnership with La Polynésienne des Eaux & SUEZ Smart Solutions, under the eminent patronage of the president of French Polynesia, the Tech4Islands Awards competition aims to identify international technological gems offering innovative solutions to the challenges faced by island territories, focusing on four key topics:

  • Smart Tourism
  • Blue Economy
  • Circular Economy
  • Public Innovation

Faced with the challenges of their insularity and the climate change of which they are the first victims, islands must invent new models of smart, enterprising, efficient and inclusive societies that create new jobs and boost sustainable, innovative and inclusive development. These are the foundations of the “Smart Islands” movement.

Islands are set to become new global hubs for innovation fostering a “Tech for Good” dynamic inspired by the common good and more respectful of its impacts on the climate, the environment and society.
